Just kidding, that would be a 500-page book instead of a few paragraphs. If you have made it this far, thank you for taking the time to look at my work and for considering working with me! I was born and raised in Louisiana and moved to Colorado in 2019 because I love the weather here(however, I am willing to relocate). I have always had a creative soul; I even have a finger painting on the wall of my childhood bedroom to prove it. My mom is still not happy about that one*insert shrug emoji*.
My first job was at a movie theater; I worked my way up from the concession stand to assistant manager. Through my hard work, I earned trust, valuable experience, and friends I still have today! Through their trust in me, I was able to explore graphic design and marketing. I was making flyers to advertise presales for tickets and was given full creative freedom. That was my first taste of graphic design and the first time I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I went on to work a couple more jobs that didn't contribute to where I wanted my career to go(however, I did gain valuable knowledge about accountability, transparency, how to take criticism, and customer service), so in 2021 I decided I was going to focus on graphic design.
I started doing freelance work for family and friends(the difference between 2019 and 2021 is I started charging a fee for my services), although I had been working on websites and branding before 2021, I had no experience creating contracts, managing multiple projects, or working on different types of files. From there, I went on to get my first corporate graphic design job and a certification in UI/UX Design. Working at Eldorado has been crucial to the designer I am today, allowing me to work with different vendors every day, shaping my ability to pivot and still meet deadlines. I also learned more about marketing as a whole and gained a whole new set of skills, including email marketing and B2B Creative, turning me into a well-rounded employee.
I won't type your eyes off(like "talk your ear off" but reading - if that makes sense), but I will close by saying my previous employment no matter how irrelevant they may seem, has contributed to not only the employee I am today but also the person I am. And might I add, I still have friends from every job I have ever worked, just saying I'm pretty great to work with(not bragging, that's what I have been told).
